This is the little "island" in my backyard. I've got mostly perennials growing, and nothing is blooming yet (although my peonies are just about to "pop") except for my chives (aren't they cute?) I did plant a rose bush that my son picked out for me for Mother's Day, let's hope the deer leave it alone. All the rest of my flowers will start blooming close to June, so I'll put up another pick when everything is in full bloom and it looks so pretty!
I just wanted to share with you the tulip tree outside my back door at home. Happy spring, everyone!
This has been the longest winter ever! But I took a stroll around my garden and was happy to see my old faithfuls coming up, so I know Spring is here. My chives always come up early, and if you haven't grown chives before, they produce the prettiest purple flowers! I'll have to post a pic when they bloom. I've got some daffodills poking through, too.
Although we had a little snow this weekend, the local wildlife are still getting their fill of birdseed and squirrel food. It's a chore to keep the feeders full, but they sure do appreciate it, and reward you with beautiful color during the gray winter!
The last of the beautiful tree color is leaving, and we'll be left with the grayness and cold of winter. Here's hoping you keep warm and keep the sunshine bright from within...
That's right...the nemesis of my yorkies...that pesky opossum who refuses to find a place to live out on his own and mooches off of us! I just took this picture while my dogs were trying to jump up to get him from the fence. (Did I mention they are yorkies and my fence is six feet tall? he he)
I just set up a mini greenhouse I purchased from Lowe's. I'm hoping this will help some of my more tolerant plants survive the winter outside. I like the fact that it zips up when cold, and unzips and rolls up when it's okay for the plants to get fresh air! This was easy to assemble without the use of tools, and wasn't too expensive.
I pulled up in the driveway after working today, and noticed a bunny just a few feet from the front door. I called my husband and asked him to grab the camera and this is the result!
Coral Bells, also called heuchera, comes in several different varieties with beautiful foliage. This particular plant has really nice foliage color and looks pretty even when it isn't blooming!
Our varied bird friends who stop by to visit and sometimes entertain, along with a few fat (not phat) squirrels, and an occasional opossum.
